Chasing Daylight is a four-piece band from the West Midlands UK, formed with a shared passion for creating original music and performing on stage. Combining influences from pop punk, emo, alternative rock and metal, each member brings their own style and musical background to the band, helping to shape the sound of Chasing Daylight. Meet the members behind the music:
Jacey Rae – Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Jacey fronts the band on vocals while also playing rhythm guitar. As one of the bands founders, Jacey is heavily involved in writing our music and shaping the direction of Chasing Daylight, both on stage and behind the scenes. Musically, she takes inspiration from Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan and blink-182, influences that can be heard throughout the band’s sound. Alongside performing, Jacey is also involved in the creative side of the band, helping develop ideas for songs, creating the artwork for the band’s song covers, including designing the cover for our debut single “Dance With The Devil”.
Rachel – Lead Guitar
Rachel is our lead guitarist and the other founding member of Chasing Daylight. Her lead work and melodies are a key part of our sound, adding the energy and character that runs through our music. Rachel’s biggest influences include Ghost, Avatar and Metallica, helping shape her style and approach to to lead guitar. She is extremely passionate about music in every form. She spends a lot of time listening to a wide range of artists, constantly studying different guitar techniques, tones and song writing styles. She is always eager to learn new skills and improve her playing, often experimenting with new ideas and refining parts until they feel right. Rachel’s dedication to learning and understanding music is a huge part of what makes her playing so expressive and dynamic.
Ben – Drums and Lyrics
Ben is our drummer and lyricist, providing both the rhythm behind our music and many of the words that shape our songs. Whether we’re rehearsing, recording or playing live, his drumming drives our sound whilst his lyrics give our songs an identity. While Ben is a keen listener of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pantera and Children of Bodom, he prefers to write his own style rather than drawing directly from those influences, giving his lyrics and playing a distinctive identity within the band. As well as contributing to our songwriting, Ben plays an important role in the ideas and direction behind our original music.
Eric – Bass Guitar
Eric is the newest member of Chasing Daylight, joining the band as our bassist and completing the lineup. He’s quickly become an important part of our live performances and our developing sound. Eric takes inspiration from bands such as Limp Bizkit, Paramore and Fall Out Boy, bringing together elements of rock, pop punk and alternative music to shape his own playing style within the band. Along side playing bass, Eric is also involved in the technical side of the band as a sound engineer, helping shape and refine our live and rehearsal sound.
Our Support Network
Chasing Daylight isn’t just the four of us doing everything alone. Our friends and family play a huge part in what we do, supporting us every step of the way. From helping out at shows and rehearsals, to designing merch, photography, filming content and encouraging us behind the scenes, we wouldn’t be anywhere without them. Their support brings the band to life as much as the music itself, and we are incredibly grateful to have them as a role in our journey.
